Introduction
I led a collaborative project to design an innovative visitor experience for modern museums, utilizing comprehensive research methodologies to develop actionable strategies for enhanced engagement.
At SCAD's Methods of Contextual Research course, I collaborated with two colleagues on an innovative project to transform the modern museum experience. Our research approach was comprehensive and methodical, focusing on understanding real visitor needs and experiences.
Research Methodology
Our multi-faceted research approach included:
53 participant interviews and surveys
8 specialized sensory cue studies
Implementation of Lextant research methodology
Systematic affinity mapping for data analysis
Key Framework Development
Through careful analysis, we identified five essential dimensions that shape the museum experience:
Engaging: Interactive exhibits and immersive environments
Personalized: AI-driven guidance and customized tours
Intuitive: Clear navigation and accessible information
Inclusive: Multilingual resources and adaptive exhibits
Social: Community spaces and digital engagement platforms
Solution Implementation
Our practical solutions balanced innovation with feasibility, including:
AI-powered personalized guidance systems
Multilingual accessibility features
Social media-friendly spaces
Digital wayfinding tools
Interactive community engagement areas
The project delivered actionable strategies that considered real-world constraints while prioritizing visitor experience. Our framework serves as a blueprint for museums seeking to enhance their visitor engagement through technology and human-centered design.
Professional Growth
This experience enhanced key professional competencies:
Research methodology and data analysis
Project management and timeline adherence
User-centered design implementation
Cross-functional team collaboration
Strategic solution development
The project demonstrates my ability to lead complex research initiatives and transform insights into practical solutions - skills valuable for organizations focused on innovation and user experience enhancement.
